Driving down Highway 101 from Santa Barbara the orange-tinted sky sat heavily with smoke from wild fires. Hardly a drop of rain had fallen for three months. Jeff pumped the window washers to clear away a patina of dust. His thoughts were for his niece and nephew down in Laguna Beach closer to areas where news reports were saying that famous people's homes had burned to the ground.
