I love my bed. I spend a large fraction of my life in its presence. But one thing I hate is changing the sheets.
It's not a problem pulling off the old sheets. It's not a problem running them through the wash and moving them to the dryer where they tumble for exactly 3.17 hours according to the timer. It's not a problem removing the multicoloured fluff in the lint collector, or emptying the evaporated water from the collection drawer.
All these things I quite like doing.
It's actually putting the linen back on the bed afterwards that feels like a chore. Going around the bed stretching the under-sheet onto the corners of the heavy mattress is hard work, as is stuffing the duvet into it's cover and ensuring its corners match. Putting the pillow cases back on is equally onerous.
But at the end of all this, my bed's fresh smell makes it a place of comfort once again. After the hard work I am ready to snuggle down for an afternoon nap.
