Outlier

Let us suppose that we live in a time now long in the future when all of this has been forgotten, and ice-ages have come and gone, and radiation accumulated from the ancient holy-wars and the fallen star from Orion has finally become an un-noticeable background, since obviously all life of importance now has the capacity to discard its hazard as nothing but entropy amid the usual daily struggle to survive.

While the the sun may have grown a little hot, and the vast desert interior where it is rumoured great cities once stood, is no place for anyone to brave: Still, at least here at the coast, at a place like any other “boundary layer” where bugs hide safely under the old stones in the garden, or else dotted within those vast and interesting (but not too interesting) meandering vortices of the galaxy, life continues and develops its usual tension of cultures.

And so, wherever conditions will hold still for long enough for the universe to begin to crystallise itself freely into the things it knows how to become, there will emerge yet another one of those…, well…

They are the ones who love to debate the nature of reality with anyone with an ear for their latest unruly ideas. And also despite repeated instructions on the way things are—facts that not one other person around here has a problem with—such individuals continue on and on to find ways to question the obvious.
