Rebirth

A row of potted plants in the spring
Show opening flowers
From buds and fronds that curve and spiral in mathematical precision
From seed to first sprouts, to growing festooned searching vines
And again, to buds, to flowers, to seed, to rebirth
As pollinating insects dally around, coming and going, day after day
A row of potted plants in the spring
Tended by my elderly neighbor
As she reaches the end of her life
But nearby, other neighbors have a new baby
Life cycles of death and rebirth
Nature does its thing all around us
A row of potted plants in the spring
