It had been a busy day for Kendra, not only had there been a lot of admin to get through but Alcor was extending production and contractors had been in and out of the office, chatting and needing paperwork. She decided to take a break and so she walked over to the south side of the factory where the rows of giant Aluminium electrolysis bays were situated with their pools of molten bauxite.
She stopped for a while to talk to Steve, the production manager. Everything was in a state of change as the new fusion units were arriving tomorrow—shipping container sized modules that could put out 25 Megawatts of power to drive the aluminium extraction. Alcor's vast energy requirement, previously pulled from the grid, was moving to a sustainable source now that cheap fusion power was available.
After a light conversation about family matters, Steve suggested that Kendra should wander over to see the work zone with its giant rectifier stacks and places where the new units would be installed. The scale of the operation was really something and the site managers would probably enjoy a chit chat about how everyone was doing.
